Adjustable Dumbbell Exercises
Dumbbells are essential in any form of weight training programs. They are important in many aspects of strengthening exercises. They are great when it comes to increasing explosive power, muscles mass and strength endurance.
Free weights such as an adjustable dumbbell set are great when it comes to stabilizing different muscle groups. They provide resistance to work on the various muscle groups through different movements. Furthermore, another advantage of this equipment is that movement is upon the user’s discretion. This means that the user can move the equipment depending on the muscle the user wants to develop. Unlike in resistance machines, the user’s movement is limited depending on the exercise the machine provides.
An adjustable dumbbell set can provide different types of exercise that targets various major muscle groups. The exercise depends on the user’s desired outcome, whether to increase muscle mass, strength endurance, general fitness, or improve athletic performance. They would dictate the type of exercise the user will do or of the number of repetitions and sets.
One great exercise is flat chest presses. This is done by first lying flat on a weight bench. While lying, hold a dumbbell on each hand directly above your chest with extended arms. Then slowly lower the dumbbells to at least chest level. Push the dumbbells back and repeat the procedure. Remember to avoid locking the elbows while doing the exercise to prevent injuries.
Another type of exercise would be flat chest flies. This type of exercise is also done using a weight bench. Like in flat chest presses, this is done by lying flat on the bench while holding a dumbbell on each hand. However, in flat chest flies, the elbows are bent slightly. Then open the arms to sides. In this exercise, the elbows are locked. Then return to starting position and repeat the whole procedure.
